Blood Tests
There is a high demand for blood tests at the health centre as RBH’s Phlebotomy service is limited and we are not able to provide as many blood tests at the health centre at the present time due to the requirement for thorough cleaning between patients and the need to limit the amount of patients in the building to keep our patients and staff safe. If there is a long wait at the health centre patients can go to:
-An appointment only clinic at West Berkshire Community Hospital in the Phlebotomy department

Results
Please telephone us on 0118 972 2188 after 5 working days for your test results to come back from the hospital, unless your doctor has stated otherwise. If you can, please phone outside our core hours, ideally between 10.30am to 1pm and 2pm to 5.30pm.
It is your responsibility to phone or check your results if you do not hear from the surgery, as this flags up if they are not back or have gone missing.
The average wait times for test results:
Blood test | 1 week |
Stool test | 1 week |
Urine test | 5 working days |
X-rays | 2 weeks |
However, do be aware that we cannot always give full results over the telephone. Our preference is to give results over the telephone for confidentiality reasons and we can only give results to the person who has had the test. We cannot give your results to family members without your written consent. Results for patients under the age of 16 will be given to their parents, unless we receive instruction not to. If the result is complicated, or if the doctor wants to see you about the result, we will offer you an appointment.
Please note if tests were requested by the hospital then the results of the test should come from the hospital. Contact the hospital department directly if you are unsure.
