Blood Tests & Results

Blood Tests

The practice offers blood tests most mornings.

We also run frequent Saturday morning appointments at Townlands Hospital, (please book appointments via reception)

You can get blood tests done at the Royal Berkshire Hospital: Please click here to book an appointment at the RBH

Results

The easiest way to check your results is using the NHS App. Register to access your online medical record via the NHS App Here

Please telephone us on 0118 972 2188 after 5 working days for your test results to come back from the lab, unless your doctor has stated otherwise.  If you can, please phone outside our core hours, ideally between 10.30am to 1pm and 2pm to 5.30pm.

It is your responsibility to check your results or phone for them, if you do not hear from the surgery, as this flags up if they are not back or have gone missing.

The average wait times for test results:

Blood test 1 week
Stool test 1 week
Urine test 5 working days
X-rays 2 weeks

Some patients find this website useful to help understand results: Lab Tests Online: Patient Education on Blood, Urine, and Other Lab Tests

We cannot give full results over the telephone. We cannot give your results to family members without your written consent. Results for patients under the age of 16 will be given to their parents, unless we receive instruction not to. If the result is complicated, or if the doctor wants to see you about the result, we will offer you an appointment.

Please note if tests were requested by the hospital then the results of the test should come from the hospital. Contact the hospital department directly.
